Nuclear Power Plants, Kudankulam (3)

Today, while walking in the market, I noticed on advertisements of papers, that police is searching for Uday Kumar of Kudankulam in connection with some bombing there, in which 6 people had been killed. My Deepest Condolences to their families. But...

This is like asking modi to explain about the bombs that had exploded during his recent rounds. While it is Quite possible, and Not Unthinkable that leaders would resort to such tactics, there is a thing called PLAUSIBILITY! In the present Instance, it is Absolutely, Just Reeking, of 'Framing' a Leader to put down a Movement.

The Kudankulam protest has long gone on Peacefully, with Violence ONLY from the side of the police! In this day and age, they seem to forget that there is a thing called Social Media, Cell Phones, etc.

While looking forward to a Time when the political class will see to the Welfare, the Real Welfare of those who elected it, One also hopes for the Time when the police will Not think that they are Just the 'hand-maidens' of the politicians.

police men, and women, are supposed to have Brains, Intelligence and Conscience. Let them Start Using these, Stand Up Tall, instead of 'bowing' all the time.

Nuclear Power Plants, Kudankulam (2)

IF I WERE THE CM OF TAMIL NADU, THIS is How I would Handle the Crisis at Kudankulam.

I would go out and CAMP there, say for a Fortnight or so. Less than this would not be Convincing. All this, Provided I am sure that our friends the russians have really built a safe plant! Haha! ...There Will Definitely be difficulties in the Day to Day running of the government. But a Long Drawn out Protest by Lakhs (Hundreds of thousands) of People calls for it. And Keep making Frequent trips to that area.

I would start with Withdrawing all the Draconian Presence of the Police, Intimidating as that is in the Extreme. All Services, and then some, will have to be provided as a means of Reparation for their denial all these years. AND Withdraw all the Fake Cases dumped on the Protesters, and bring them back Home from jails, providing them with Compensation.

I would make the People Understand that government agencies, and government officials are Present, and functioning in that area. That Members of the government would be at the Receiving End too, in case of a Disaster. And I would take All steps necessary to see to the Really Meaningful and SAFE Disposal of the Nuclear Wastes.

BUT, if I had Really been the CM, I would Not have agreed to, or allowed, the Erection of a Nuclear plant in the First Place!

Nuclear power plants, Kudankulam (1)

KUDANKULAM is the place where India has built one of its latest Nuclear Powered Plants for the production of Electricity, with the help of russia.

And the People of Kudankulam do not like it all. Fears of a nuclear Disaster have made them Protest against the Plant for More than 10 Years.

I have repeatedly written that nuclear power plants are Not all that dangerous. Okay, Okay, I do Know about Chernobyl and the Japan disaster, as Others, and that Many, Many Western Countries Opting out of nuclear plants. What I mean is that Submarines are powered by nuclear power, and yet Sailors remain in them for Months at a Time. ...That russia has a Very bad record of nuclear safety is another story.

What Worries me, and What Most People are not paying attention to is the fact that the Disposal of the nuclear Waste is such a Hard and Tricky business... Particularly for the Coming Generations.

With all this, here is the Latest (as of Yesterday), of the tamil nadu gorement's way of handling the protests... Electricity is Switched Off, Cell Phones are made In-Operable, Cases of 'Anit-National Activity' and Charges of 'Setting Off Country Bombs' are made against the Leaders of the Kudankulam Protest, notably Uday Kumar, a Gentleman if there ever was one. By the way, the tn gorement has very kindly denied Bus Services to the People of that area for a Very long time.

'And Brutus is a Noble man,' and India is a Democracy.
